Alberts v. Aurora

The putative plaintiff class is a group of former and current patient-care workers at a multi-site psychiatric hospital. Plaintiffs alleged a series of wage and hour violations stemming from invalid company policies and practices.

Econ One was retained by counsel for the plaintiffs to (i) analyze Aurora’s timekeeping and payroll data, and (ii) assist with the proposed trial plan. Dr. Brian Kriegler assessed the extent to which existing data demonstrated patterns. He also relied on survey data to make statistical recommendations regarding how many former/current employees to testify at trial.

The trial court granted certification after the California Court of Appeal reversed an earlier ruling denying class certification.
