Dogan v. Turkmenistan

This dispute involves a claim by Adem Dogan (“Dogan”) against Turkmenistan with regard to claimant’s alleged interest in Turkmen companies which held leases for government land reserved for poultry production. Dogan seeks compensation for four separate claims, (1) trade restrictions during the worldwide avian influenza outbreak; (2) termination and non-extension of the lease; (3) confiscation of equipment; and (4) currency devaluation.

Econ One was retained by counsel for Turkmenistan to assist on quantum issues in an ICSID arbitration. Lisa McGuff submitted two expert reports estimating potential damages associated with each of the four claims. Ms. McGuff also testified at the hearing on this matter. The ICSID tribunal has not yet issued a decision.
