The plaintiff was a machine operator who had established a strong work record during more than 12 years of employment with the defendant. After sustaining injuries while on the job, the defendant denied accommodation to the plaintiff for those injuries and forced him to terminate his employment. He sued the defendant for the economic losses that resulted from the alleged disability discrimination.
Econ One was retained by counsel for the plaintiff to provide an analysis of the economic loss suffered by the plaintiff. Charles Mahla’s analysis involved an estimate of the plaintiff’s lost future earnings during his work life, as well as a detailed analysis of his estimated retirement losses. Working with a vocational rehabilitation expert, Dr. Mahla derived multiple alternative employment scenarios and determined the likely economic benefit of those alternatives. Dr. Mahla provided both deposition and trial testimony. Ultimately, the case concluded with a satisfactory result for the plaintiff.
