Medical school faculty employed by Duke University and the University of North Carolina alleged that the two universities had a “No-Hire” agreement between them in violation of federal antitrust laws, and that it suppressed their wages.
In support of Dr. Edward Leamer, who submitted expert reports and provided deposition testimony, Econ One analyzed the universities’ employee data to identify the compensation structure and demonstrate how it ensured impact of the agreement on compensation of all medical school faculty. Econ One and Dr. Leamer also estimated the amount of under compensation and total class damages.
The court certified the class of medical faculty at the two schools. UNC settled and the case against Duke is proceeding towards trial.
