We are seeking an Analyst for our Downtown Los Angeles office with a strong analytical background and an interest in the rigorous application of economics, statistics, and computing to high-profile projects in the fast-paced setting of litigation consulting.

Essential Functions
- Technical skills
- Understands and can apply basic economic, statistical, and econometric concepts.
- Demonstrates intermediate competency in Excel (e.g., advanced functions, conditional formatting, and pivot tables) and graphics (PowerPoint/R/other).
- Programs at an intermediate level (e.g., uses macros appropriately, organizes code logically, avoids hard coding).
- Imports, organizes, and standardizes raw data.
- Understands the logic of the underlying data and creates useable datasets for analysis.
- Performs basic regression analysis.
- Audits basic and intermediate level programs.
- Performs basic financial analysis (e.g., present/future values, price indexes, financial statement analysis).
- Litigation and research skills
- Acquires thorough knowledge of the litigation process, including familiarity with discovery rules.
- Organizes and manages electronic and hard copy case materials.
- Reviews documents, deposition testimony, and relevant literature for content and is able to identify items relevant to case-level issues.
- Audits report and exhibit backup for accuracy and completeness.
- Independently prepares sufficient, reliable back-up documentation for Econ One work product.
- Compiles opposing experts’ electronic and hard copy work papers in order to (1) replicate results and (2) identify factual inaccuracies/unsupported claims.
- Communication skills
- Describes, explains, and defends own analyses; seeks out information needed to understand the context of analyses being performed.
- Writes clearly and efficiently.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate with clients by the quality and clarity of communication with senior staff.
- Instructs less experienced staff in proper research, spreadsheet, and documentation skills.
Education and experience
- Position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in economics or a related discipline with some relevant work experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint a must.
- Knowledge of SAS, STATA, or other analytical software packages preferred. PROC SQL experience a plus.
- Experience in economic consulting, economic research, or related fields preferred.
- Excellent quantitative/analytical skills.
- Knowledge of econometrics and statistics preferred.
- Experience working with large, complex databases preferred.
