About Chris Rowland

Chris Rowland is an applied economist specializing in demand analysis, industrial organization, econometrics, policy analysis, and energy markets. His professional experience and research spans a wide variety of industries including Oil & Gas production, commodity trading, transportation, energy policy, crude refining, pharmaceuticals, and deep ocean shipping.

Dr. Rowland provides litigation support in crude oil and refined products disputes. He has a wealth of operational and commercial experience with international oil companies and global refining systems. Dr. Rowland has operational experience serving U.S. Gulf Coast and West Coast refineries by way of crude selection, logistics, and trading. His commercial experience includes profitability, policy, sales/acquisition, and optimization assessments for Chevron’s global refining system. In his current work, Dr. Rowland applies econometric and statistical analyses, market and industry research, and expert opinion for expert testimony and expert report preparation. His work has covered lost profits, overcharges, and damages claims.

Dr. Rowland has experience in crude trading, demand forecasting, decision analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, policy analysis, econometric analysis, logistics optimization, industrial organization, and antitrust. Furthermore, Dr. Rowland’s scholarly work with energy and policy is highlighted by his latest work involving energy demand, policy implications, and oil production economics which has recently earned publications in Energy Policy, as well as the Journal of Energy Research & Social Science.
